A full set of suitcase weights would definately help, and maybe a smaller plow, but other than that I don't see anything wrong. The picture is a bit fuzzy, but that plow appears to be running very level, just like you would want. I've never plowed anything quite that tough, but like Allan said, those old feedlots do get very well packed.

I agree rusty, a bit of wt. and one less moldboard. Fun to watch. We had clay knobs in N. Ind. that make difficult plowing to depth. I watched a Cat scraper dig our lake (off of I-94) being pushed by two D-9s cutting 2" and having the clay come over the back of the pan like a curl of pine off of a block plane. Yellow material that was brick hard when dry. JimN

operator error. Did you see where he forgot to lower the rear? Then the front went way too deep and he don't seem to know enough to raise it a little.

If Allan in NE could let him try his 4 furrow reversible instead of that unwieldy thing he would get on far better.

Boy, I dunno.

Those old feedlots are tough. Think I'd just run a disc across it and forget it. :>)

I tried plowing my dads old feed lot. Used my 9700 and borrowed a 4x14 Ih plow and it was all that old ford wanted.

He is got three or four things wrong with his set up.

Do you know what they are?

If he would fix those he would not come to a stop.

He may have to shift down a gear but would not stop.

1. No front weights. If he had front weights the front end would not come up when the draft control was trying to work.

2.No gauge wheel. The plow is staying at the same depth across the feild so he is getting deeper and swallower.

3. Front of plow looks to be plowing deeper than the back.

4. No dual on the out of furrow tire. It doesn't get as much traction as the one in the furrow so he needs a dual out there to equal the pull so he doesn't have to brake the furrow wheel all the time.

You notice he never runs out of power so he needs to do the above to gain traction.

The gauge wheel missing is the main problem. I pull a 6-16 510 with my 1066 with no trouble. When I finish up a field I drop the gauge wheel to get closer to the fence. Its very difficult to control the depth of the plow with out it. I have a harrow like the one in the video and its hard to tell the difference if its on or not powerwise.

Can't help it Gary. Gotta answer. Needs suitcase weights, left rear dual, throw that harrow away.

abusing, maybe, working a little. I'd say he's got enough tractor, but just not using it right...when we plowed the tough gumbo bottoms, 4-16's, 1/8-1/4 mile rows, on still evenings, you could still see the smoke from when you dropped the plow when you turned around at the far end. the 4020 exhaust just glowed, and when you hit a tough spot, 4" of flame out the top...that was working...maybe even abusing also.
