I spend the last week, cleaning up in and out of Barn . I now wonder why I put some of this stuff in the barn 30 years ago. Anyway I have about 300 lbs of #2 copper, 100 lbs of brass, and aluminum and who knows how much iron. What,s the going price of these metals now? It seems the price has dropped lately. Thanks

I hope there weren't any old tractors or implements in that iron. The folks on this website will come after you : )

Not sure the price but a few weeks ago someone ripped down several hundred feet of 100-pair phone cable from in front of our bldg and apparently sold it. Put our phones down for a few days.

Around here, if you go asking junk metal dealers about whether they've seen such and such their only response is 'Are you a cop?'. They're as much to blame as the thieves.

You have to watch your battery cables, radiators and don't have a gold filling in your teeth. They'll come in after that too!

Hi!
According to this site you may be looking at $700+
worth for that copper.
$100+ for that 100lb of alu.
I don't know the price of iron though.
Your local prices will be alot lower, since this site is dealing with ton lots (maybe even what comes straight out of the furnaces) The only problem is , will the buyer ship these metels to china after you sell it? Or will it stay in the US? Might want to hold onto it after all!
Hope this helps!

I used to pay 27 dollars for 250' of 12-2 w/G. I checked yesterday and the price has shot up to 67 dollars for the same roll of wire. Copper is worth a fortune these days. Not sure about the others.

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron

Last I heard scrap stainless was $1.50 a pound and #2 copper was $2.00+ a pound. New copper has leveled off I'm told, nobody can afford to buy it.

The scrapper I see occasionally at the flea market said copper had been as high as $3-3.50 a pound. Not sure if it is still that high.

I know iron has come down some in price and he said aluminum never really did take off like the other metals.

Last month I hauled off an old engine block with rat in it-ruined it, and some other scrap. Didnt even bring $20 bucks for 300lbs of iron. I probably got screwed at the salvage yard, but the county dump would have charged me $9.00 to dump it there.
