Hercules head bolt torque needed

I have a Hercules jxb(six cyl) that I am fixing up. Does anyone know the torque setting and sequence of the head bolts.

anybody know where we can find an rxc herc. eng. for our old fire truck it is the one w/ 3 cyl to each head--- we use it for parades but it pushes water over the overflow some about 2 quarts every hour or two-- need complete or just a good block no cracks-- or any Ideas-- e-mail me direct firechief51@peoplepc.com thanks keep up the good work

SJH, My old Federal- Mogul book say for the JXL series for a nut 60 lb. for a cap screw 75lb . Earl

FWIW, 50 Motor manual doesn"t have pic of sequence (Herc section pretty basic),just the generic "start at the center, work side to side and to the ends". JX series shows 75 lbs for final tightening after engine well warmed.

My motor manual says same as yours for sequence but the torque for JX is 52.5 pounds feet. The RXL has 73.5 lbs. I don't know which is correct but I would start low and work up. Books says:After engine has been run sufficiently long to bring all the parts to normal operating temp.,a final tightening should be made.
