I bought a 560 Diesel yesterday and wide open in neutral it governors out at 1850 to 1900 rpm, I was thinking the 656 and some 706 had this same engine and the rpms were higher with more HP. IS there a way I can adjust the pump to get more horse out of it or were the 656 and 706 different besides the pump adjustments.

I heard some where you can adjust the pump but I do not know how. Can someone tell me how?

Thanks,

Robert

If it started at 3 degrees it must be in good shape. You made a good buy.

Wonder if the fuel linkage could be out of adjustment just a tad preventing the pump from being wide open. As little as 1/8" might reduce the RPM's several hundred. 2 cents.

560,660,656,706 used the 282 engine .They did change the injectors to the IH midgets nozzles in the later 656 and 706 which you could put in the 560.The diesel pumps have different govenor settings and the size of the injecton head. These engines can run up to 2800 rpm in stock form and make 90hp and more with turbo.560 rated 60 hp at 1800 rpm,660 80 at 2400,656 63 at 1800,706 72 at 2300.Yes you can crank more HP out of it more fuel ,newer injectors ,more RPM, timeing and pump settings external and internal.

Before fiddling with the pump, look in the Operator Manual and see what the rated HP is at what RPM. If you are running a the rated RPM, and don't have the power it should, then dyno it or do a compression check. After these steps consider the pump. Tom

The main reason I asked is that my dad has a 63 560 diesel that in neutral open throttle it turns 2100rpms. This is a 61 and it turns 1850, so I was thinking there might be an adjustment. The only thing noteable about this tractor is that when cold it lays out on one cylinder whether its 80 degrees or 0. It comes back to life after about 3 to 5 minutes as the engine warms up. I presume its a lazy injector or something. I dont know anything about these diesels. I will say this, it sat outside for 9 hours yesterday at the auction. It was 8 degrees when it was driven out there and 3 degrees when I started it. The H wouldnt start, the Super M barely started and neither the 7130 Case IH, 4366 IH, would start but the 560 started right up. I was surprised. The 7130,4366, and combine were all even plugged in. The H, Super M and 560 we not.

So I guess I may have a lazy injector and from the sounds of it my dads 63 560 has been turned up a bit..... Sooooo ooooo ooooo ooo how can I get my tractor at least even with DAD, I can have dad out doin me ya know!!!

Like father like son
