I have a 1949 farmall C, I had the fuel tank boiled and lined, I put a new sediment bowl on, new manifold, new zenith carb, new plugs, wires and cap. The engine runs fine at idle with a periodic miss, give it a little fuel and the miss is worse along with a pop noise in the breather. I looked at the valve springs for possibly broken one. All looks well. the pop and miss is not continous. thanks

If it pops back under a load or when you yank the throttle it could be a lobe dawn on the cam. Jim

burnt/improperly seated intake valve. More than likely than not.

Well I'm gonna open a can of worms here. That old 77 would work great if you run it every day. If it sat one day that valve would stick & bend the push rod. I added Auto tranny fluid to oil & fuel. But my old uncle tried this on his f-20 & told me. Get it ta operating temp & pour stp on the hot valves & work it in. After I did it on that old gal no more trouble.

Sounds like a sticking intake valve. Maybe adjusted to tight Or just gummed up.
