Was there even a Belly mower made for the 4020? Who makes it?

When you put a loader on these tractors mount the pump on this shaft and leave it on. This leaves the rear shaft open for other uses.

A new Generation Deere doesn't need an auxilary hydraulic pump tinkered on in order to run a load. Other brands, sure. Deere is noted for hydraulic flow, pressure and reliability.

Several had that shaft underneath facing front. Our 2510 had it too and a few of the JD utility tractors also had it. There was a JD mid mount sickle mower that ran off it but I can't remember the model number right off hand. Remind me later and I'll look the number up for you. Maybe some cotton pickers or strippers also drove off it too?

Jim, It was No. 50 JD side mount sickle mower. A pic & more info in a bit if I'm not in the dark from the ice. My notes say the No. 10 JD was a side mount for the 2 cylinder 30 series tractors ? But I have no manuals or pics of the 10.

On the 4010 the front PTO shaft shifted speed with the rear shaft. On the 4020 the front shaft is always 1000 rpm.

It's call front or mid PTO. John Deere made a side mounted mower that run off of the PTO. Yes they made one for the 4020.

So does anyone know of a good belly mower that would fit on a 4020?

Used mine on the 3020 to run the sprayer pump- left it on the tractor, just pulled the belt off the rest of the year when pto was used for other jobs. Had saddle tanks on the tractor- sprayed herbicide with the planter or later in the year. Good idea that JD had. Too bad they dropped it with later series tractors.
