-7 in MN in january ain`t nothin unexpected, but I kinda got used to this 30-40 degree stuff.
Went out to do chores this mornin and burrrrr was it chilly. Funny how it takes alittle time to adjust. Like those first fall days that only get up to about 50, seems kinda cold, but the first spring days at 50 seem like T-shirt weather. Doesn`t help that I used to work outside year round and now I spend most of my day in a heated shop. Guess I`m just gettin soft.

The slap of mother nature. Few days in 50s and 65 here yesterday spoiled us in January but below freezing and falling today with icy drizzle fog and maybe icy rain or snow later. Done had a few snows here too and more snow would be better than the ice but last I heard it's winter.

The following comment is rude, immature, and probably not necessary...but I can't help myself.

In reference to the original post's title..

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!

We had 3 this morning in Omaha, and my inside dog started outside, and backed up immediately. I guess he did not get the memo-yes it gets cold here, and yes you still gotta go!

I hear you. Don't know how cold it got last night, but the wind chill was bad. Radio said -40 wind chills. Good night not to be a cow.

Anyone willing to bet we've heard the last about global warning for a week or so?

John

John,

And here we are swinging back on forth above and below freezing. Spend more time wading through mud, and then breaking through crust trying to get around. I still don't envy you.
The downside to this is that I'm rather expecting next year will be a bad one for bugs. Anything that crawls or flies isn't getting killed off this winter, and there's apt to be a lot of egg populations survive. Hope not, but worried. Cold isn't all bad.

Rod

Thought we might hear from you today R. John Johnson. -40 is the air temp here, with -48/-49 windchill at sunrise. More than a few cattle waterers will be frozen this morning.

Kruss

My water did that last night. That's the new one I posted pics on a couple of days ago. Locked the cows out, filled it back up and told them they have to use the other waterer till this one gets going again(Hopefully this morning).

Don't envy you down there is Southern Manitoba where the trees are few and far between.

John
