What's the Difference Between Wico C and X Magneto

Other than the price and look of the thing, what is the difference between the Wico C and X magneto's?

The Wico C replaced the AP model and C was later replaced with the XH and XHD model in 1940s. The C had a steel tube in it with 2 bronze oil-lite bushings mounted in and early C mags had problems with the bushing coming loose in aluminum housing. It became more of a problem during WWII years when good aluminum was not available but many bad housings were replaced later by Wico in a replacement program with all later better housings have a 3 on upper side of housing to designate the later replacement. The replacement program was dropped when the Wico XH came out so not all got replaced then. Everything new is available again still for the C except the housing and magnet. The XH was later design with ball bearing and oil-lite bushing for the magnet shaft and XHD models had HD condenser, HD magnet, HD coil, & HD impulse parts for hotter spark. The Wico XH & XHD models are still being made new again today so all parts are available for them. XH was a simple design and that's why it's about the only new mag still made today for a reasonable price and adapted for most any SAE flange or base mount replacement application.

The C has a single bushing in it and the center stem is prone to wear and/or breakage causing rotor drag the X has a ball bearing in the back and a bushing in the front, much better design.
