I have a farm pond about 75 feet away from my back door. With more and more suburbenites moving onto land around us, what should I do to to reduce my liability of owning a pond?
Thanks, Richard

my guess would be put up signs around the pond on a chain link fence...around here you have to fence in a swimming pool, (i live on 6 acres)

Check with state and local laws to determine what your liability is. It is surely going to be different in every corner of the state that you live in as more an more locals decide what you can or can't do on your own land.
I have two ponds on my 37.58 acre farm and so far I haven't had any trouble but in Oregon we still have private land as private land and can still shoot trespassers.

Check Google and Wikipedia for"attractive nuisance". If you are asking the question about liability you have already met the first condition of attractive nuisance; that of knowing that a condition exists on your property that would attract young children to it .Consult with a lawyer, also get a full copy of your homeowner's policy beforehand and take it with you to the lawyer. I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, only my opinion and suggestion as to what I would do in that circumstance..

Also float some white rubber thingies. You do not want the trespasser to think that you are over the hill.

Out up a sign that says: Warning - Sewage Lagoon then float some Baby Ruths in it.
