I have a MF1105 in need of a re-man turbo. It is an Airtech TO4 for a Perkins 354 (specifically ATC6.3541 i believe).

I have been quoted $650.00

Does this sound fair?

Thanks as usual for any help, I certainly appreciate it.

Air Research, yep that is what I meant, I knew AirTech didn't sound right, but couldn't come with that other name for anything.

Do you have a number of a place I can call that will sell them for that?

I checked with a diesel injection shop in Louisville, KY and they were more than $650 and then I got that price from the place that sells used JD and IH where I bought my 2950 from.

I assume you've checked, and there's no oil in the exhaust manifold from a blown piston, and you're SURE the turbo is the source of the oil blowing out the exhaust?

(You're probably right, but I wouldn't bet the price of a turbo on it, without checking.)

I must say that I haven't checked the manifold, but I can tell you that the engine sounds fine. Same as allways.

Would there be a sound change if a piston was bad?

WaynefromMI thinks that it is probably unburnt diesel getting to the turbo and turning to sludge, so I ran it pretty good the other day to make sure as burning all diesel and the oil was just drip, drip, dripping out of the bottom of that turbo. that was when I also listened real good to the motor, front to back carefully and there were no strange sounds coming from it at all.

That is when I decided to start calling around for turbo prices.

Thanks for your help and advice.

I'll post the results because pretty soon I will know what the cause of the oil is.
