This winter I have set two goals for myself...other than working full time, renewing my teacher certification, widening out my tandem trailer, etc. etc. All my life I've wanted to ride a unicycle and also play a guitar (not at the same time). Like my dad always said when we were growing up, "You'll never learn any younger." 47's not too old is it...? Of course everything is a project. The unicycle I'm planning on learning on needs the wheel re-spoked....Good job for Wisconsin winter evenings.

Any new challenges for you this winter?

Glenn

I've Worked On And Restored Old Tractors For 25 Years. Started Playing Some Guitar When Was About 12 Years Old, Never Was Very Good And Could Not Afford The 3.00 For Lessons Then, What I Learned I Got Off A Neighbor Kid And Some Books. Gave It Up For 40 Years, But Always Wanted To Go Back To it. When I Retired 2 Years Ago I Took Some Lessons From A Blugrass Guy and Found Out I Really Did Have A Talent For It? Anyhow I Now Play In Church And Sing And Play At Some Gatherings With Other guys And I'm Having A Ball At It. Don't Give Up On Music, It's A Tossup Now As I Spend About The Same Amount Of Time On Music As I Do Working On Tractors.

Great ambitions as I read through the posts. I personally am trying to improve some of my organizational skills. I know that I am too accustomed to clutter and have learned to function in it. This is'nt efficient, yet very difficult to change. My true nature is a form of perfectionism that is rarely attainable. I need to find an appropriate balance.

I've got to work on mine some more. Just hit my first goal of the new year, to make the pedals on a stationary bike go all the way around. I hit that last night. Made it 10 minutes tonight.

Im thinking that I want to be able to hold my right leg straight for 10 seconds so I can give up this brace, and be able to bend my right leg the same as my left. If I can get these by the first day of spring, I'll be happy.

I was always interested in being an auctioneer, so finially after several years of talking myself out of it. i finally went to school in nov. i was scared to death, but so was everyone else. i was very glad i went, and am having my first auction april 7 2007. Dont think about somehting to long if you want to do it. you will almost always talk yourself out of it.

Reminds me of 18 years ago - when I retired I wanted to learn to play the violin. Bought me a $200 fiddle, and browbeat an 80 year old woman musician to give me lessons in exchange for plowing snow from her driveway.

Didn't learn how to play, but I DID learn two things:
1. Playing a violin is difficult.
2. She taught me: "Don't say I can't. Say, I'm not yet able".

My goals for winter are to spend more rec time with the boys outdoors fishing, squirrel hunting, cutting firewood. They are 7 and 10 1/2, and I am really seeing that I need to start doing far more with them and letting them learn, rather than doing everything by myself cause I always say they are too small. We are also going to build 14 blue bird houses and wood duck house replacement, part out a 86 subarban(if any one needs any parts email me) and hopefully have a efficiant and safe barn cleanout here in 2 weeks. 1st year I am letting the 10 year old help out. As far as learning something new... well my 1st year cropping this spring should cover that. Good luck with your learning and enjoy it.

I haven't set it for a goal of this winter, but I've always wanted to learn to play the piano.

I've played drums all my life but its hard to carry a tune on the drums when your by yourself and I like to play music.

If I sat at the piano as much as this computer I'd be pretty good by now.

Yea. I'm now a senior in HS. But when I was in 5th grade I had to learn how to play the piano, and I hated it. But now I actually miss it, and we got rid of my keyboard. I wish I would have practiced up a little more. It's a great talent to have. -Dan

I hear ya Gary. I bought one of those eletric keyboards and was getting so I could entertain myself pretty good til I got internet. Now I am rusty and need to get back into it. But, I have learned to type somewhat, so it ain't all bad.

Music is a great pacifier. My Son played a guitar pretty well and my daughter played piano. They are both nearing mid life now, but if anything ever bothered them they would head straight for their music every time.
My goal for the winter is to get Momladys' cancer under control, and things are looking pretty good right now!! :-)
