Here is a link to a short video clip of building terraces with IH Whirlwind terracer and 900 Ford tractor. I had this posted on my web forum and thought maybe you guys would like to see it too.

I pulled one in the 50's with a mid 40's model A JD. We ran in first gear in black land and it was a load to pull. We were rebuilding terraces and it was a slow job. I hated it. If I could move along like that Ford it would not have been bad at all.

How would you run one of those machines here in southern Michigan where it is kinda stony at times...and real stony all the rest of the time?

Wow.
I've never seen one of those in operation. The ones I've seen pictures of were behind Farmall Ms; how much power do they need? Would an H pull one?

Yeah, an H will pull one, so will an M. You go around about a dozen times and then repeat.

Now that is some serious dirt throwing.

How many passes would it take to make a say 2 foot high terrace that is 8 foot wide or so?

Gary

Hi folks. Was there some sort of level indication device that mounted on the hood of the tractor to help keep the terrace level? Barry

No, you use a sight level or transit and stake out the run before you start.
