Since people talked about property rights this shouldnt be to far out of wack.Last year I hauled my calves to the local market. In an effort to make a cost efficent payload I put one more on there than I should have. It didnt look tight, but when I got down there one in the back corner had its head down when I turned and broke its neck. I have no idea when this happened. Could have been at my place, between, or on sale barn property. Guys at the chute said go find so and so and see if they would insure it. So I found him and they did. I told my self that they'll get my bussiness next year. Ive gone there for 10 years now. O.K. since then in Nebraska a mail order pharmasit has bought 5 sale barns. This one is one of them. I would rather do bussiness with an indepenent than a Walmart type of deal. The barn rep bumped into me and ask when I was going to sell. I told him I didnt know what the battle plan was since they sold out to a non-ag person. He commented on them covering the dead one in the trailer. So did he really do me a favor or was it something that happend on their property anayway. After 10 years Ive paid a fair share of ins. I live in the middle of about 7 barns and the rest are independent. A couple just as good as this one. I realize that they all might sell if the price is right, and one was only $10,000 difference that didnt sell, but owner says he will never sell. So I think watch out for your self, instead being loyal to an indepenent. Had a friend get some calves hauled in a pot. When they unloaded one was lame getting off the truck, I think. That or it was dead...cant remember, while back. He talked to the trucker and he said not my problem...talk the the barn owner. In my openion that should of been the truckers deal. My friend doesnt like to get pushy and nothing came of it. So was just wondering what the spec were on livestock trucking ins. Thanks
