Has to know of a 404 engine that would fit a 4020 tractor. IF it is in REALLY good shape I would be willing to pay up to $4,000.00. If it is in poor condition I would pay less. It does not have to be from a 4020 per say it just has to fit a 4020. It could be from some diffrent model tractor all together.

The water pump is what is different. It bolts to the block on a 4320 and to the head on a 4020. So the frame and hood has to be 2" longer to make room for the longer water pump on the 4320 motor.

This ad is in the photo ads on this site. Type in 4320 in the search block, hit GO, and it will come up. Just got done doing this, so it is still there. Good Luck

I know the frame is longer on the 4230 than on the 4020 but is the engine longer as well???
I would not think that John Deere would make a new engine for a second generation tractor. Would they?
