Click on Sloroll"s link, and "What Is A GMO" comes up, with two paragraphs of basic explanation. Pay particular attention to the third sentence in the second paragraph ("Little is known...")
How"s it feel for you, your wife and children, and who knows how many generations, to be laboratory guinea pigs???
Reminds me of someone saying something about the sins of the fathers being visited upon their children...

When it comes to ag products, in particular grains, there is a lot known about the results of GMO seed. With the exception of the presence of the modified gene, there isn't any difference either genetically or quality wise of grain unless that is the purpose of the transformation. Cloning is another country, but there isn't any detecable difference between the products of a cloned animal and an animal bred in the usual way. I hesitate to say "natural" because there is so much artificial insemination.

Well, John, if I have an agressive cancer, and my twin brother doesn't, you could say that would be the only diference between us; unfortunately for me,it could be a debilitating or fatal difference...so sometimes a slight difference can be enormous and far-reaching in it's effects. The GMO'ers are all assuring us it's all perfectly safe, while at the same time spending millions (billions?) to quash any eforts to identify the finished product as containing GMO's...ordinarily every minor improvement is hailed far and wide by ad agencies as the greatest thing since fire, the wheel and stretch jeans, but this baby they're trying to hide from us...It's perfectly true we've modified things for thousands of years, within phyla/species, but this is an indescibably more powerful undertaking, with no real knowledge of whether we're soaring like the eagles or walking off a cliff...

Roundup Ready soybeans, cotton, alfalfa, Bt corn, probably some others out there that I don't know about. The short version is genes from another organism are inserted into the DNA of the plant we wish to have the trait and walla, a GMO.

Well then, I wonder for those that don't approve, if they would plant RR sweet corn, if there was such a thing in their gardens.

We plant our sweet corn right in with the feild corn, have it sprayed with the rest of the feild, and never lost any due to spraying....

A pisspoor job of spraying on the other hand, yeah, that sucks...
