Hows the weather in the rest of the country?

Warm and to muddy to do much here.

Wish it would freeze up.

Gary

Well the fisrt of Dec. we had ice and snow then yesterday it was around 65 out. Today its raining and about 55. I wish it would either get cold and stay that way of stay warm, instead of this roller coaster weather we keep haveing

Was real muddy here yesterday with rain and snow. Still got that low out west of us in NM. Another 2-3" snow last night and it did freeze the ground last night so everyone scrambling around this morning to feed cattle before the mud thaws again. Haven't had that problem in a long while :) They say the low is going to move east sometime towards Okie land ?

Glen, talked to my sister in Belen,NM this morn, she said they got about 4 to 6 inches of snow. She called to see If we had any snow, I said "NOPE and you can keep it all down there,,,I'm feeling generous today."..:>)

But we have lots of snow in the mountains, where we need it, to run the turbines in summer to keep Calif. from sliding into the sea..:>) And our irrigation systems...

Get your "snow mobile" out and go play in all that white powder..:>)Oh, don't forget to mount your snow-blower too...ROTFLMAO

Well Keith the tv and radio guys didn't get any snow apparently. After I got done shoveling and measuring it was more like 5-6" here too and drifted 3ft. or more. Belen may get more and that thing moved off toward Las Vegas NM now. NM probably needs lots more snow to get the ski season going and been hurting the last few years. Snow mobiles dont go too well in the blown off bare muddy spots and cactus is kind of hard them too. This storm was not a big one for us by no means either. Cattle still digging thru finding something to graze around but when it goes 15-20 days of haying that's a big storm here.

Yep,

Got the critters all bedded down and fed up good. Today, I’m gonna see if I can make a little headway on an old 1066.

By the way, if anyone ever needs to know the electrical layout of these tractors, I can now recite the darned circuits from memory down to and including the silly color codes. :>)

Hey Allan did you get the timing changed on your fence today ? :) That must be why I heard about critters on the highways last night because someone forgot to change fence timing and blowing snow had nothing to do with it?

Pretty darned sure that they spent the night sniffing "electric fence ozone" and they are all hung over this morning.

Or, on the other hand, they just might have been listening to the fence singing and it thru 'em all out of whack.

Wonder who dreams up this stuff? :>)

I know one thing,

I'll never electrify a barbed wire fence again. Sounds like that is really a dangerous thing to do! :>)

Oh I just got a good needed laugh out of all that fence talk last night lol. During irrigated days all the old 5 wire barb wire fences got tore out and wire rolled up so the blowed in dunes could get leveled on edges of fields. We used that barb wire on single electric fence for years till it got too rusty and then went with the galvanized smooth fence wire. We tried a bunch of that surplus telephone wire when phones all were going underground but that stiff wire is sure hard to work with in a snow storm. What was dangerous was those old weed chopper fence chargers we use to run and some got modfied and could paralyze cattle caught under one and were already known to start hay stack and other fires! That's why they only make those pulser kind today I think.

Yeah the guy at co-op taught me how to slide those coils over inside replacing one and make them even hotter and that was a BAD thing to do!

The cab tractors use a loom to power up all the systems in the cab plus they come back out of the cab again to power the air conditioning compressor.

The cab loom threads up and connects to the main tractor loom upstairs behind that upper gauge panel.

I'm such an old fuddy-duddy when it comes to being "authentic" and just won't "snip" the wires. Just can't bring myself to do that; gotta take 'em one at a time out of their connectors. :>(

When I get done, I want both tractors as close as humanly possible to the original factory setup and that's why I took the time to go "electic fishing". :>)

I know Fixerupper was looking for a nice crimp tool and the last couple of times I was over to his place I keep forgeting to ask what he did.

Allan i got you on the wiring i ain't cut'n' no wire if i don't have to.I got all the wiring on the right side behind the battery that went to cabs.
i just figure i could take all that out an get a horness to go from up at the gauges an switchs down to under the floor board.
Might be like a guy in Ne i may be in ever salvage yard in the contry?.

Allan, and Gary. I looked at those two tractors we were posting about earlier. The 986 sold. The 1086 does have a turbo, cab with non working air, marginal tires f and r, 6200+ hours showing and am told it's a "solid" tractor. Asking $8500. How is that sounding? May be able to get there for some pictures this weekend.

That doesn't sound bad for the price if every think checks out mechanically.

If you are using that tractor in the summer in dusty conditions you will want the air to work.

I've spent as high as $800 dollars to get my air working again.

I would not sell either of my 1086's for anywhere near that amount, but I know what I got also.

Sounds about right to me if it needs tires. A really good "ready to go" 1086 with those hours ought to fetch around $10.5K or better, hadn't it?

Don't worry about the air.

Tinker toys are the only thing I can think of that are simpler than working on an air conditioning system. There's just not much to 'em.
