Do you have a dealer near you? See if they have the operators manual for it or it they can order it for you, you'll need it eventually.

Dont forget to shut it off on gas. Then after you shut it off put the lever back into diesel, this is to prevent the head from cracking. Closing the starting valves helps it to cool evenly. Have fun

When you pull the lever down to put it on diesel it shuts off the gas. No need to confuse the issue I told him right.

Again, I don't know about the 9 but Hawken 79 told him to shut the engine down at the end of the run on gas. Not to shut off the gas.

The IH Diesel Engine Page is a new website that has a chatpage on Thursday evenings (tonight). Good Luck. All I know is about the IH crawler model the Army used in the 30's to move coast artillery guns in and out of their caves. They had a big handle under the seat that was moved sidewards after starting on gas. Moving the handle accomplished all that was necessary to switch over.

Well Tom first you have a short lever on the left of the steering column pull it up and pull your thottle (long lever on right) up. Make sure you have gas in little tank and on. Then turn your key on, pull the choke out and hit the starter it should start, then push your choke in, let it run and warm up for 30 seconds to a minute, then pull the little lever down and the throttle lever down a little at the same time and your on diesel. Simple as that. Have fun and I'm sure you will because they are a blast. Jim
