Hmmmm,

I've measured, remeasured, stood on my head, measured, re-measured and I still can't see why. :>(

Perhaps I am retarded.

Can't wait to hear what kind of head bashing you will be doing when you are trying to put the cab on your 966.

Have fun

Can't we redrill the right hole to the left an inch and just let the panel lap a little further.

Or is there a groove that it rest in.

Gary

It sets in an indentation groove in that front heat shield.

However, I'll bolt the back up to make sure it is "square" and fitting right on the tractor, mark the hole from the inside out and then give 'er the old tail-bobbing trick.

We shall overcome. :>)

Allan old freind just checked my parts book and the 766 & 966 use the same panel but the 1066 uses a different one. Part #s are 7, 966: left 531499R1, right 531500R1 106 #"s are 531507R1 for left, and right 531508R1. Hope this helps. Send me a PM if you ever need #"s they maybe originals but they work. David

Yes,

Just found that out.

Has to do with that bigger fuel tank and the way it is configured causes the forward engine heat baffle to be moved back on the big tractors. Battery heat baffles are attached to this heat shield, so they too must be shorter.

I've gotta do some "creative engineering" here. He WILL get a proper set of irons, no matter what! :>)

what's the problem? in reply to Allan In NE, 12-27-2006 15:24:58
Allan: Just drill six to eight more holes farther down the plate you wish to attach. One of the holes will likely fit. Puddy in unused holes; let dry, then paint with similarly colored magic marker. Or just use duct tape.

fer duh.

Probably wasting your time here, but:

I'm assuming the shiny red piece that wont fit comes from your 966 and you are transferring it to Gary's tractor as part of the cab change process. If so, are they supposed to interchange?

Referring to top pic, is it possible to drill a new hole in the dirty sheet metal forward of the old one that you have the piece bolted to, or is another piece of metal supposed to fit there? I can't tell if that will mess up some other alignment or not.

Yep,

Just went to the parts book. 1066 and 1466 take a shorter hood and both heat baffles than do the 766/966. Drat!

Ahh just move on to something else. Come back in 30 minutes and it'll bolt right up. Or just use baling wire for now and let Gary take care of it. LOL Hope you keep enjoying yourself.

Allan,
Looks like its about 2" off. Nothing is bent is it? I can't imagine any thing being different between a 9 and a 10 for sheet metal.

Uh oh, Tire guy is here, 1086 is getting new shoes, got to run!
