I am nearing the end of restoration on my ‘39 Huber L and am not happy with the rear tires that I put on. The wheels are F&H round spokes very similar to those used on an Allis WC and others I am sure. They are 8” wide and 24” diameter. The original tires on the Huber were 12.75-24 (1939 size). The tire store recommended 12.4-24 as the replacement. They are no where near as large in diameter as the original tires that I took off. The tractor looks like it is going uphill all of the time. I went back to the tire store yesterday and they say that the 12.4-24 is the largest that I can go. Does anyone have any experience with 13.6-24 or even 14.9-24 sizes on this wheel? Attached are pictures of the old and new tires. Thanks!

My '37 WC has F&H rims like that. They are a very deep drop center, about 9 inches wide. From your picture, mine are identical regarding the deep center. Normal tire for that is a 13x24- old size marking. That would be a 14.9x24 new size marking. What your store recommended was actually an 11-24 old size tire. Didn't know what he was talking about if he went smaller in new size than what the old size was. I needed a replacement this summer and found a used that almost matched the tire on the other side. New are still available, MN dealer had some in stock this summer, also used at Biewer's Salvage in Barnesville, MN.

Yep it does look odd with those tires on it. I would either tell them you want the bigger tire or find a differant tire store that would put what you want on not what they want to sell you. Years ago it was the customer is always right now days it no longer that way and they sell you what they want not what you want

Check out Me Miller tires website. Under their FAQ section it shows that the correct size to replace your tire would be a 16.9 width in todays measuring system and they have a conversion chart on their page to show you what old size matches with what new size.
