Hi Guys,

Going to be an interesting day today. Have a 1066 setting out in my yard that has to go in the garage. Won't fit.

That thing is going in there, even if I have to take a chain saw to the doorway. :>)

I'm really suprized that no one told Allen just to use a couple of floor jacks and raise the garage:) Wouldn't be as much noise as the chain saw option:)

Accelerate it to the speed of light, drive it into the garage, put on the binders, and slam the door shut. Works every time!

I'm amazed that you have not thot of the solution:
Take your binoculars and turn them around and focus on the tractor. Notice how small it is, then just back it into the garage..... .. Ha Ha

Happy Holidays to everyone!!!!!

You need one of those portable canvas buildings with zipper doors in end walls like Willy-N down on Country Talk, he's got a 10 wheeler pumper truck settin in his. It's survived wind and snow.

Here is a stupid idea. Set scaffolding up on each side of the tractor. Bridge over the top with some 2X4's. Cover the whole thing with reinforced poly (you can buy windclips to install it). Set your torpedo heater inside to heat it. The masons work year round up here in Minnesota doing this. They keep it 65-70 degrees most of the time. Looks like you would have a nice concrete slab to work on so the ground won't turn to mush. When anchored properly these temporary structures will really withstand strong winds.

I was wondering when you were going to get started on that project. It helps my cabin fever watching the progress on your projects.

Hi John,

I'm really susceptible to depression. If I'm not moving, I fall in that black hole.

Over the years I've figured out that if I stay busy, it stays away.

Bottom line is, I think Harley was right. Winter is outlasting my projects so will probably end up painting a 1066 before spring after all. :>)

Allan

One good thing about having cattle around, there's always something to do. LOL.

Wish I had a heated shop tho. Still lots of spare time in the winter and lots of mechanical work to be done. Would be nice to have all the equipment ready for haying before the snow melted.

John

Thats what I said Sloroll.

All the stuff I want would clear the door so its just Allans cab that would get beat up a little.

Might even save some removal time.

Yes Sir,

That's what I'm going to do. Do you think I'll have to flatten the fronts too? Maybe they'll go in okay with that exhaust pulled off.

I'm not the first in the pecking order around here, so that's probably 5 years down the road.

Subject has come up from time to time tho. :>)

Gary probably won't like it, but think I'm gonna flatten the tires and drive the tractor in on the rims. Shouldn't hurt anything just moving the tractor a few feet, should it?

Then, if that still doesn't work, I'll yank that door off the garage to get another 2 or 3 inches clearance.

She's going in there, I don't care what! :>)

The guy that works on our ford tractors has to flatten the tires on 7710s to get them into his shop if they are on 38 inch rubber. He doesn't run them all the way to the rim, just enough to get the tractor under the shed door. Not sure if you could lose enough by just flattening though. Maybe swap out the tires on the rears for some 34s or 30s just to get it in the garage if you have any duals sitting around that will bolt on those hubs? Good luck with your mission. We just got our 6610 out of the shop this morning after a clutch job and replacing the seals in the dual power and rear main.

Just a thought, why not knock the rims off of it and put it in there on the hubs, this works on the front also. You may want to put down some oak boards on the floor.

Bingo!!!

I knew if I posed this problem up here, somebody would come up with a solution!

I've got to put some new nuts on the lugs anyway; heck, while I'm at it, I'll just yank those wheels and run 'er in on the rims.

That'll work!

Thanks Buddy!

Is that muffler extension removable or is that a one piece Allen.

If you want the extension to get the exhaust over your cab take it.

well, you could pull the rear tires and set it down on a couple of 4 wheel dollys, or maybe a nice jack. try pushing it in with just the jack underneath. is your loader tractor at the house?. how about turning the 66 around and drop the rear of the tractor in the bucket and push it in the garage and set it on stands??. prombaly to heavy for your loader tractor thou. i dont know, im just babbleing. you need to get yourself an extra pair of young hands around the house for the grunt work. ya you prombaly should just drive her on the rims. be safe and have fun with her.....
