Got it fixed in reply to frankiee, 12-21-2006 05:57:43
I got under it today armed with heater hose ,clamps and a knife
I pulled on it and it come off no problem
I was lucky it did not fall off
The plastic was cracked
All I had to do was cut the connector piece off
The hose was allready in a loop and went up to the tube end and fit right in
I then hose clamped it
I decided to do the other one also
When I got it off, it was cracked also
PLASTIC
If wonder why they would make such a thing
O well
Note to self
Anytime I see one on our vehicle
Cut it out
Thanks for the replies

yes its a removeable quick coupling and just the coupling assembly can be obtained at your nearest Napa store for mere dollars (not hundreds)

Ouch is right
If I could figure out how to take it apart I might be able to fix it.
It is able to turn something like a tractor hydraulic quick disconnect line
I did turn it back and forth and it did stop leaking
If it starts again I figure if I can take it apart then I could clean it.
It sits right behind the rear wheel so it picks up road dirt.
If I clean it up I can build a shield for it
I think that is what is happening
Its gotten dirty
Any body know the name of the part so I can google it.

I would guess it is made like the smaller ones on the fuel lines that require a special tool to get in and release a plastic retainer. That tool may be able to get at NAPA or the Zone.

There's an "O" ring in there. GM doesn't service the individual parts, but you should be able to match up the "O" ring, and replace it.

Probably, a little silicone grease on the parts before reassembly isn't a bad idea, either.
