Based on some of the comments made to my posts about LE oils and greases, especially the one that more or less suggested that all oil was the same, I thought some of ya'll might like to further educate yourselves in the oil and grease department. I get both the Practicing Oil Analysis and Machinery Lubrication magazines in their print form and have learned alot from both of them. Some of the articles are a little dry and technical but there are also alot of good ones that aren't so technical in nature. Either way though if you take the time to read what they're saying and simply tune out the numbers they use to get to what they're saying, it can really be informative. they also have message boards similar to this. You have to sign up to post or whatever but it's free to do. The company's name that has the site is Noria Corporation. Their devoted to just about everything related to oil and greases, and that's pretty much all they do. Happy reading..... .

I run a fuels and lube testing lab. There is a big difference in lubes. Like they say you get what you pay for. The same holds true for testing labs. Tribology labs or condition monitoring labs are trending labs. There answers aren't all that accurate. CLS(Certfied Lubrication Specialist).

I know what werks fer me and my Customers, I kin prove it, I know that routine maintenance izz the key. Pay me Now are Pay me later best way I have ever herd it said. I know sum will never learn, I know I let’em know they have never learned and will have’ta pay up now not later but now. Recon I could be talked into enny thang if I am lead to believe it will put money in my pocket now. I recon I could invest in the best out their but if I do not push it and never use it then I only kin sit around and look at it and see it does not make me enny money or save me enny money. One thang that does interest me izz why enny one would push extended service intervals. If theirs enny B.S. in this then that’s were the problem lies. I look at it as a way to convince me to use it when if its that good then that should not be a option. I spec its hard to beat a oil cup that drips a drop of oil every now and again, but that takes man hours and that’s the sell’in point of high teck lubricants.
It may be superior no argument here, the extended maintenance part B.S. less you operate in a perfect environment.
