Hope migraine is doing alright up there in Washington.

Sounds like they had some pretty bad storms up that way.

Gary

The storms here warmed up everthing and turned it into a mud hole, 60 mph winds some power outages. Now back to single digets and frozen again. PNW is never predictable

Hi guys. thanks for asking Gary. Yea we survived, I guess, but kinda stressful on this old man. Had winds here for the fourth time now since Nov. and I don't think there can be much more to tear up anymore. This area and all the way into Oregon really got blistered with lots of areas out of power for days now and no time quoted yet to get back on. They even had to pull the power repair crews in off the lines for safety concerns. It was NOT safe to be outside in any wooded area cause trees were exploding before your eyes. I went out to my farm to check on my tractors and equipment in my sheds and I stayed all of about 3 minutes cause those 100 foot firs were creaking and bending at the waist. This area looks like Edward Scissorshands has been at work overtime and forgot to clean up his trimmings. Never thought my crews would get so much on the job training with chain saws, but we've kept 3 saws, seven men, and four trailers running without a coffeebreak for 3 days again and will have to really hustle to get these properties cleaned up for the holiday parties. Thank the good Lord for Sunday! Think I'll go to bed and try to get a decent nights sleep. I didn't sleep well with howling winds at the back door. Migraine

I always though that up there in the NW US the weather was always constant.

Do get wind storms like this other years?

Gary

Yes we get some windstorms every year around this time but not as strong a winds as this. And with all the new development that has gone on reciently many trees that were protected before are now exposed to direct winds. They are not deeply rooted here because of all the moisture we get and having grown in a protected area and now exposed to direct winds, down they come. Also all the rain we have had has loosened the soil.

I have seen a few that have gone over because the roots came out of the ground. But most of the trees down around Spokane broke in the strong winds. I agree that some are less protected when other trees have been cut around them, but many of the trees that broke have been there in the same environment for many years. It was just one heck of a storm!

Sure glad to hear you rode the storm out OK. We had the 60 to 65 mph gust here but not to much damage around. Kept watching the news from the westside, hoping everyone survived OK.

We also had winds in the mid 60's in south Puget Sound- Power outages didn't seem to last as long as further north- ours was only about 6 hours. Both sons power is still out- #1 son, wife and Sam are staying with us, #2 son, wife and Jack are gutting it out- he came and got my generator Friday. Heard some in suburban Seattle will be out of power for another 7-10 days, although I think that's a "worst case" scenario.

Yea, this is kinda of an annual event here but not this bad and not so many storms back to back. All starts over there in Hawaii with those girls doing their hula dances and starting wind curents that turn into gale winds that blow our socks off. Picks up momentum over the water and the pineapple express brings her home to the NW. Gotta go have a talk with those gals and see if they can tone it down a little. We will get our act together this week and get ready to enjoy the holidays. Once thats over all we got is two months of rain and gray skies if normal, but then, what is normal anymore? Better get to church, I need it. Migraine
