I have a Haynes book for this vehicle but it does not help much. Has anybody ever changed the heater core on a 93 S-10 Blazer? Does the whole dash got to be removed? If anybody has experience in this, please respond. Mike

Well I got every thing unbolted under the dash but the ECM won't let the cover come out, and I can't seem to get the ECM out of the way ,

Any Ideas ??Thanks -mike

The ECM should either come down by removing a couple of screws, or maybe you have to depress a release tab, then slide the ECM out of a mount, then remove the mount.

Sometimes the darned things are held into the mount with double-sided foam tape, and you have to cut them loose, or tear them loose from the tape.

I replaced a heater core in my 92 S10 blazer. I had to loosen the dash and slide it back a little bit to get the heater core out. It took me about 5 hours. Hardest part of the whole job is that there is not a lot of room. to work.

I have a 1997 Blazer. I believe the 93 is similar. To change the heater cord I had to take the entire dash out. It took me about 6 hours working by myself. No hard to do just a lot to unbolt.

1994 was the last year of the "boxy" mini-Blazer.

1995 and later are the new, rounded design.

I put a heat core in a 1994 several years ago (which SHOULD be very similar to the 1993), and while I don't remember the exact details, I can't recall it being too bad of a job, I certainly can't recall having to pull the whole dash. Of course, I could be suffering from CRS again!

93 was the last year for the box. I have a 94 with the rounded design (217,000+ miles and going strong).

Is your '94 a Blazer or a pickup?

It is my understanding the S-10 pickups got restyled in 1994, and the Blazers in 1995, unless it was a mid-year 1994 thing with the Blazers.

I have a 1994 babyblazer, an it is DEFINITELY the boxy, older style.

I have the pickup. Did not know the blazer didn't change then, too.

It's been a while since I did,but no,the dash doesn't have to come out.The bezel around the radio and the panel at rear of inside of glove-box has to come out.
The 2 worst things about the job is reconnecting the air tube and connector on top of the heater case and the top screws for the core cover.
3hrs to R&R.
Hope this helps. You can do it!
