I have a farmall super m with a cracked head. The head was cracked years ago in a different place and poorly welded w/ 7018 rod. I am going to replace the head with another used one. My question is, will a farmall m head work on a super m tractor? I think it will, but wanted some other opinions from other farmall lovers. Thanks to everyone the that can help.
Zeb

as far as i can remember all this heads will interchange (6336casting n)(8777)(8574)(8060)
The 6336 an 8777 is distillate or kerosene.
Lower compression.
The 400 and 450 well interchange the only one we ever had a problem with the piston was the LP off 450? i don't remember if it was the 362 433 r1 or r11 or the 364586 r1 or r11. these two head had a close combustion chamber.
Good luck merry christmas.
Bill.

If the SM engine has firecraters no, if it has the new style pistons,,, description on the dome is,, that its a half moon, double hump piston dome, It will bolt right on, if it has flat top pistons it will bolt on,,,, firecraters,,,, nope. But, can be done by grinding the slot in the chamber on the intake side of the chamber. The firecraters, are a rounder,, not a boxy dome like the new style piston are,,, Hope this helps. Chad
