Sorry for a stupid question, and probably I'm on the wrong forum. That being said most always you folks can point me in the correct direction at least.

I have heard that a billion seconds ago it was like 1953, and a billion min. ago The good Lord walked this earth. And a mans heart beats approx two billion times before he dies.

I have heard all this at the local coffee shop, and we all feel in this town if you hear it two times in the coffee shop it has to be a fact.

So you all understand my mom and dad were brothers and sisters, that is not that uncomon in my home town. I have problems balancing my check book, and I am pretty sure I do not have enough fingers and toes to count to a trillion.

My question is if a person had a billion dollars, how many times could you circle the earth / go to the moon etc. if laid end to end. I certianly do not need that exact awnser, just a way to try to understand what our national debt is?

Sorry, I do not prefer any political remarks, and I know both sides could crack them out for say a billion times. So please bite your lips in this regard.

I'm sure there is a web site for all these comparisons, just hard for a red neck to find it. Thanks in advance. NE IA Dave

If you assume that a 1 dollar bill is 6 inches long, then 1 million dollars is about 94.7 miles long. Lets round that off to say 95 miles. One billion dollars is 1000 times as much so it would be about 95,000 miles long. It would be approximately 3 and a half times around the earth. If you decide to use 100 dollar bills. A million dollars is about .95 miles long or lets say close to a mile long. A billion dollars would then be about 947 miles long of One hundred dollar bills end to end. Remember a trillion is 1000 times as much as a billion. I hope that helps some.
