My neighbor has a Super M with a loader and seems like the power steering does have enough power. Is there any adjustments or someplace where can he send it to get rebuilt?

Randy,

They aren't like the newer factory setup, but rather they are a "power assist" type power steering.

If he expects it to turn with weight on the loader and he is setting still, it just ain't a gonna happen.

Yeah Allan, we tested picking up a round straw bale and it just seemed to "stutter" when trying to make the turns while moving. With no load it seem's to work ok. We just put this loader on the his Super M after the the straight M finally got tired of moving bales and needs some engine work. The old M did not have any problems with the steering, unless you were lifting a 1500# bale ; )
So we were thinking of taking the whole setup of the M and putting it on the Super M. But of course quick fixes are always best.

Dunno,

Mine works fine while it's moving even with a heavy bale.

The only time I notice the "power assit" thing is if I'm setting still with a bale or lifting a heavy load with the loader and trying to turn at the same time. Then, I will get that same "stuttering" effect at lower rpms. I attribute the problem to the somewhat lower pump output of the IH live pump.

They sure aren't the best cure, but they are light years ahead of not having any assit at all.

Thing of it is, I never noticed it when I was younger, 'cause nothing had power steering back then. :>)

I would check the pump first to make sure it has the proper pressure and flow.
