Does any one have experiance with overhauling the z129 continental engine in the TO 30? I am reassembling my TO 30 engine and can't figure out the thrust washer/shim setup. It seems that there should be a thurst plate that centers the thrust washer closest to the crank gear but none of the parts I have seem to be right. Am I missing the plate? If I am where do you find one?

There is a thrust plate, two thrust washers(inner and outer) and then some shims that fit between the two thrust washers that set the allowable endplay(0.003"-0.007")between the thrust face on the crankshaft and the fiber washer. There is also a pin to locate the whole shebang. They all go behind the gear. You should be asking this question in the Ferguson Forum. There is a whole lot of Ferguson experience there.
If you don't have a Ferguson Shop Manual, you ought to to do this job.

I found the remanents of one in the oil pan our TO 30 almost 40 years ago. It was a composition washer that took up the slack somwhere. We ran for 2-3 years without a washer, when you pushed the clutch down the crank moved about 3/16". This washer is seperate from the bearing assembly and had to either go on the very front or very back of the crank.

I am sure there is someone else with better knowledge than me.
