I have a snow plow that I have set up for another one of my tractors. If one like a meyers but its missing what I would call the shoes so it doesn't cut into the road. Do any of you guys have any ideas of how to make a pair of them?? Sorry buying them is not an option for 2 reasons. 1 no money to get them. 2 the snow is called for in 24-48 hours so theres no way to have them that fast by UPS etc. I'm thinking about cutting the ends out of a truck air tank and welding up legs what say you guys??
Thanks

Use a piece flame cut from a leaf spring. Harder than the hubs of Most hot places and curved to not gouge. use Ni rod to weld it to a bracket. JimN

I took a piece of round stock that fit the plow brtacket and welded a piece of 1/4 x 4 in wide falt stock to it. I welded the flat stock so it was offset to the rear and bent up the front edge so it wouldn't dig in. Works fine.

we have an old bronco that we plow with. i use a piece of 2" pvc plastic pipe split down the length with a skilsaw, make it long enough to cover the whole blade. slip it over the cutting edge so the blade slides on it and bolt it in a few places. it slides along gravel or dirt real nice and wont dig in. if you need the blade to cut ice chunks ect, just slide the pipe back off. works good and its cheap!!!

well I Would go with what the other guys said, but one other way I have seen done, is to cut a strip out of an old tire and bolt that onto the bottom of the blade.. so that it's riding on rubber.. the snowplow on my 73' came with both shoes and rubber.. but it looks to me that the rubber is around 100 years old. lol

this don't sound the best.
I took and old pipe 2 in cut 2 peice's about 2-4 in long. split them horizonal just enough to slip up under cutting edge you can set the heigth 1/4 or 1/2 in .out on the edge spot welded them.yes after a while they wear out but then do it again

Get some 2 inch pipe about 6 inches long, weld a piece of angel with a slot in it to the top of the pipe (-o)and bolt it to the blade so that it rides at the bottom of the cutting edge. It will plow eveything above the top od the pipe. You need a big radius to keep from gouging the gravel out.
I have a back blade and I welded a piece of 3 inch pipe, 7 ft long to a 3/8" plate x 6 inchs wide x 7ft long(length of the blade)(again -o), drilled holes in the plate to match the grader blade holes. I bolt it on in the winter to clear a quarter mile of driveways on my ranch and I don't move gravel in the process.
Hope this helps you,old.
