I would like my Cat 3208 motor to run 200 rpm faster. On top of the engine is a cap with 2 cap bolts. It says on top of the cap High Idle adjust. I took the cap off and there are two screws, on vertical and the other horizional. Which screw do I turn and which direction, lefty or righty? The tach reads 1750 and the tag on the motor says 2730 high idle. Right now it runs 4.80 mph in low 3rd, and it should run 4.80 mph according to the manual. There are no instructions in the manual for adjustment. I hope someone can help me on the problem and I thank them.

First thing make sure the throttle linkage is moving the lever to full travel. If not adjust that first. Then loosen the lock nut on one screw so it turns free, pull back the throttle lever on the governor and you should feel resistance to turning the screw if it's the high idle one. Back it out a bit and lock it up again then recheck the speed.

Which one is the high idle screw? I do not want to mess with the fuel screw, just the high idle.
