Old Gleaner combine question

Does anybody know if a 3 row corn head off an old model K combine will fit a model E without too much trouble? We have an old E that has always been shedded and is free but hasn't been used in years. I would like to plant 6 or 7 acres of corn next spring and thought about trying to get the old girl out, but I don't have a corn head for it. I can get one off a K that I've been told is in pretty good shape.

We changed a E 330 corn head to fit a K years ago , the k does use the pipe and hook on top. I think they drive different also, to long ago to be sure. We still have the K and the 330 corn head but don't use it.

We have a very early K that still has the hook and wedge mount. I am looking for a pickup head for it.

Won't mount straight up.

The E's mounted with 4 of the patented (sic) wedge and hook mounts on all four corners.

K and F shared configurations with a hook over the pipe on top and the wedge hook set up on the bottom.

Not sure about the throat size. Gleaner was real bad on this. They made different head mounts for just about every model until the rotarys. Yes the F's and K's shared the same mount but you had to move the hooks to change from one machine to the other. Same with the L's and M's.

All that being said with a welder and cutting torch you can make just about anything work just takes some doing. Spend some time at the dealership looking at the appropiate parts reference materials for the corn head you are looking at it should show the parts that need to be changed if you want to try this.

If you are anywhere near NW IA and need parts for your base machine I have a E that I hope to get in the shop and put under the torch this winter some time. If you need parts I would be happy to let them go to a working machine rather than scrap. Sorry no Corn Head.
