Got a Long 610. Is oil out the crankcase breather always worn or stuck rings or can something else get plugged and cause this?

On engines long in the tooth a certain amount of "blow-by" is common, you can see it rising from the oil breather cap, if it seems to be puffing out you have more serious problems in the head. Globs of oil can indicate incorrect timing or crossed wires..ask me how I know this one!...Mike in Exeter Ontario

I'll just about bet rings are worn..I did a Deere 850 not long ago..When I removed the oil fill cap on the valve cover , The blow-by knocked the filler out of my hand and I nearly got an oil bath..I've never seen rings so thin before....
