The ignition SWITCH sits on top of the steering cloumn, down about over your shins, when seated in the vehicle. Access is by removing 2 nuts, and dropping the column down on the seat. The LOCK CYLINDER is (obviously) located higher up. Which do you actually need to replace? If it is the LOCK CYLINDER, the steering wheel and anti-theft wheel lock plate will have to come off. The three screws have to be removed retaining the turn signal switch, and then the TS switch wires need to e freed up down below, allowing the TS switch to be pulled up, out of the way, and, then, at last, you will have access to the special screw that retains the lock cylinder into the column. (The older ones had a tab you had to depress, in about the same area the screw is located in the newr ones, and I think the change was made by 1979. Anyhow, you need to get doen into that area beneath the TS switch to remove the lock cylinder.) BT,DT, a few times too often!
