well it seems most of you guys got stuff done over the last few days, and I went on a road trip. my sister had to deliver 800 SCW piglets to st. james, minnesota. it's darn near to north dakota. it was a little over 1,400 miles.. she drove there and I drove back.. left the house here at 10:00 am, got to the farm at 12:30 pm, back home yesterday at 4:00 pm.. went nonstop other then a half hour break in a rest stop.. and you guys in Iowa sure do have a sh!t load of deer.. I seen more deer on the trip, then I have the whole year here in indiana.. around 20 of 'em.. have a good day! Tim Shultz

I think it must be SEW instead of SCW. SEW stands for Segregated Early Weaning. I am not sure what that means in real English

Tim, just got back from a road trip myself. Went from central Oh. to western Mass. to pick up a Hesston self propelled moco. Rain, fog or dark (or all three) for most of the drive. Had to take off the header to even out the weight and it was a couple of inches too wide. I'm getting too old for this crap. All that driving thru those hills with a loaded trailer in the rain wore me out. I left about 1 pm on mon. and got back about 5:30 this eve.

You made good time going up there. 280 miles/hour, not bad.

pigs in reply to Tim Shultz, 11-15-2006 06:10:08
I've always wanted to raise pigs and have a soft spot for them. Problem is there are so many wild ones around here that thinning them out of the hay fields keeps the freezers brimming. I've cooked it every way concievable and even tried shaping the patties into different animals... Wife won't eat pork at all any more. So sadly I'm not about to bring up the subject of raising pigs... Best I could do was to keep a piggy sow out of the trap about a month ago. She's now VERY close... love to see those little grunters. Enjoyed the picture, Matt.

Tim,
That's a pile of pigs! For the uneducated, what is an "SCW piglet" and what are they marketed for?

well, to tell ya' the truth I am not really sure what SCW stands for.. I'll have to ask my sister. but they are going to a farm that will raise them up too around 200 pounds.. they are around 11.9 pounds each right now. I don't really deal with the pigs very often, just ride along with my sister/brother in-law every now and then.. thanks, Tim Shultz

On a recent road trip to Nebraska I saw no less than 100 deer in an alfalfa field near North Platte, close to the Cowman, along i-80

How bout ya Cowman? Any wooly looking ones in that herd you run?

it was around 13 hours each way.. though we made better time on the way there.. on the way back, in Iowa there was a LOT of fog.. at times we could not go much faster then 34 MPH.. could not see more then a few feet.. but by 7 the fog had lifted, so it wasn't too bad.. later, Tim Shultz

Dang I miss taking care of them little buggers. That's more pigs than we got in the whole southwest of Missouri. They just don't get very fat on acorns down here. Good looking bunch, Harley
