I have a '68 Massey 202 with backhoe that I have not been able to identify. Some have thought it was Pitman, others a Wayne Roy. Do you know where I could find pictures of early backhoes to ID the maker? This backhoe is swung from side-to-side by hydraulic pistons and not a motor. If you can be of help please contact Doug, repvt@aol.com

Are you sure it isn't an MF hoe? Most backhoes use two hydraulic hydraulic cylinders for swing. Some have a rack and pinion swing and others use a rotary cylinder similar to a motor. Dave

Also, are you sure your tractor is a 68? I think the 202's were earlier than that. Dave

i have a minnie moline big mo 500 combination. the loader is a minnie, but the backhoe is made by ottawa machine in nebraska. the unit swings by two cylinders with roller chains. the operator platform moves with the hoe. the out riggers telescope into the frame, they dont swing out like the newer style hoes.

Does the entire hoe swing left or right - including the guy in the operators's seat? There's a MF 202 nearby for sale like that I was looking at awhile ago. Called a Workbull I think.

Doug, It is likely to be a Massey Ferguson 185
backhoe. Originally built and sold as a Davis
185 backhoe. They had cylinders to swing the hoe
until the 210 backhoe replaced it. Chuck
