The Long with the Perkins engine was the R-9500. The tractor was built by Landini. The later model in that power range was probably the 1110 which was a Zetor.

As the other posted stated, Perkins was one engine used - 354 cube around 100 horse. I had several Longs over the years - got them as "el cheapo" trade-ins at a Deere dealership I worked at. Some engines were Zetor, Ursus, UTB, Perkins, and probably more. My first little 4WD - a 410 - started getting coolant into the engine oil - back in the early 80s - I couldn't find any parts - not even a head-gasket. Had to work on the fuel-injection pump once - and again - could find nothing - it was made in Romania. I had to make a few parts. I was told later on, late 90s, that Long had been taken over by Leyland - and some older parts were made available. My 4WD 410 still sits in a neighbor's field. The guy bought it for $400 around 20 years ago and it's sat there ever since.

I dont think Long was ever taken over by leyland. However Long is still in business. Our JD dealer here sold Longs for a short time in the early 80"s. There are a couple Long dealers in Central NY if you should ever need parts.I can get you phone #/ address and directions if needed. Long tractors are now called Farmtrac .The larger utility tractors are made in India and are basiclly based on Ford 3000 and 4600-5600 design with newer engines.

The IH Case dealer near me is, or was, a Long dealer - Catskill Tractor in Franklin, New York. They are the ones that told me some years ago that Leyland was handling parts for Long - at that time (late 80s maybe?).

Farmtrac now owns Long Agribusiness- or the other way around. I recently bought parts for my 1978 Long 360 from a Farmtrac dealer. Availability not a problem, parts price OK, they gouged me on shipping.

Long sold some tractors with Perkins 6 cylinder engines. Good engines, in my opinion.

Yes I have. I believe, but I could be wrong. They were made in England. I thought they were made by Leyland? Not sure of spelling. Worked with a guy whose dad had a couple. Big one was 120 plus with front wheel assist. Chris
