Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help with a noise that the engine makes at 2200 rpm, under a load. It is hard to tell where it is coming from. It almost sounds external like in the exhaust. The engine is new only 600 hrs. The turbo was replaced last summer. Could something in the engine make a taping noise under those conditions or is it wore out exhaust.

It could be the aspirator valve in front of the air cleaner where the the tube comes from the muffler to the breather.it will make a klunking noise

Thankyou I will look into that. That is where I thought the noise was coming from. Would you have to replace the whole valve?

Yes you will need a entire aspirator most likely that valve is a flap on a hinge with a small spring to make it stay shut so exhaust can't get to the air filter.( you might want to check it(air filter)also cause it can catch fire and burn up causing a dusted engine)Anyway the flap probably has a worn out pin and broken spring. And the easy way is to go to a salvage yard for another unit.
