Do you think a 6 foot bush-hog is too big for an 860 Ford tractor. I have a 5 ft now that is 3 point and may trade for a 6 ft pull type.

I've run a 6 footer on this 850 for years now, heavy grass, brush, briars etc. Heavy and or tall grass, while going up hill, yeah you will notice it bogging down, but there are things you can do, use lower gear, raise it up and make a 2nd pass, keep your blades sharp, it will handle a 6 footer without much trouble at all. Heavy grass, going up hill, you will notice the load on the engine and it will get hot when workin hard, so keep your radiator clean and coolant fresh.

I use 1st gear when mowing heavy, thick or tall grasses, golden rod, and or briars, weeds and small brush, saplings, it provides plenty of powere and torque.

An 860 will handle a 6 footer just fine. I have used a 6 footer on my 841 off and on and had no problems with it. Big question is why do you want a trailor type instead of a 3 point type. You will find that a pull tpye will be a BIG pain in the buut to use and you will not be able to use it in the same places as your 3 point one. You will also find you get stuck in places because its a pull type that you wouldn't get into with a 3 point type. And yes your tractor will handle a 6 footer on the 3 point with no problems. By the way your tractor is around 45HP so you will have more then enough HP to use a 6 footer

Last year I had an 8 ft type bush-hog and pulled it with a Farmall 300 and a 400 and I loved it.I sold all of that equipment and bought a Ford 860. I only mow grass with it, don't have weeds and bushes.

Your 860 should handle the 6 ft. bush hog no problem. Why do you want to go to the pull type?

well it really depends on what you are mowing.. I am not sure of the HP of your 806, but I have a case 611B, around 30-40 HP, and with a 5 foot pull type I can mow brush and small trees with ease.. but if I get into heavy grass, it bogs down a bit.. but if your not mowing real heavy grass I would say you would be ok.. just my .02 worth..
