Hi;
These recent photos were taken at a McCormick dealer's working day. So the ploughed soil had been worked many times over to show the machines in operation.
At mid-day there had been a torrential downpour of rain hence the water logged soil.
The large scale grain farmers in the central, eastern & southern regions of England are now praticing min-till to keep costs down now grain prices are so low. The wetter west & northern areas are mainly mixed farming where the grass has to be ploughed to bury the turf & vegetation especially for following potato & sugarbeet crops.
The sugar beet & vegetable growers have to make a fine seedbed for sowing row crops - 95% plus of all ploughs are turn over or reversible - it saves dead furrows and leaves a totally level seedbed. Cheers David
