Hi;
This a 3 metre (10ft) wide Sima X-Press cultivator for secondary cultivation or incorperating stubble.
Note the wheel-eradicator tines, discs & rear rollers are spring loaded.
Simba from England build some of the heaviest duty cultivators in the Country, specialising in implements for 200+ HP tractors especially the crawlers & 4wd artic tractors.
The McCormick in the background is powering an Amazone (made in Germany) 3 metre power harrow and drill combination.
Cheers David

David there are machines similar to this in Asutralia. The theory here is deep rip once and then pass over with a machine like this, then sow? The ones I have seen have a bearing for each disc, as in individually mounted. Is this what happens here? I would agree with previous writer that the tilth seems excesive, what is to be sown here?

Regards

Mitch

As You see, the Amazone combi has a power harrow mounted. With the Simba you can open the soil and wonīt have to us a plough for seeding grain. Itīs not that cost intensive, then ploughing is.

Really enjoy your photos.

What kind of crops are grown with this type of tillage? Here in the USA, all the 'experts' (those who don't actually farm....) are totally against tillage, and want to see a lot, if not almost all, of last year's crop on top of the soil. That doesn't work in my cold wet soils, but I wish it did - save a lot of fuel & iron expense.

What are the reasons for needing such finely textured, trash-free ground for your crops?

Looks like it's a bit wet for working the soil. Seems like there would be a good chance of hitting a mud hole.
