Or should I move them out, as well as the front, mychoices are as follows, 59.6, 63.7, 67.6, 71.7. there are two more settings but a wheel spacer is needed. Normal wheel tread track on the Fords 9N, 2N, 8N, NAA, 6XX, 7XX, 8XX, 9XX and Ferguson 20s, 30, 35, 40, 135, 150 are all at 52" and that is for plowing as well as for anything else except cultivating and then you adjust to fit the row you are working on. I would guess that you have about the space distance between the tires with your john deere as these Fords and Fergusons used a 11.2 - 12.4 mostly with a few 13.6 rear tire and I am guessing you have a wider rear tire than that something like a 16.9

If the width doesn't interfere with operation. The wheel width should be as wide as possible for stability.

I don't know about the JD 5303, but wheel spacing is most important fro row crop cultivating and planting.

Issues for hay farming: If you are going to plow land and plant crops, wheel spacing is important for proper use of a moldboard plow, but someone else will have to advise you as I don't use one. If you are going to be using a harrow only, wheel spacing wont matter.

If you are going to be cutting hay with a 3ph sickle mower or disc mower, wheel spacing should be adjusted so that the right wheel does not run over the uncut hay if you try to get a full cut with the cutter bar. If you are going to pull a haybine I don't think you will have to change the factory setting. You should have the spacing wide enough to straddle the previous windrow if you have the haybine set to make windrows.

When baling with a square baler, the tractor should be set narrow enough so that the baler pickup does not have to pick up hay that has been run over by the right wheel of the tractor. When using a round baler, the wheels should be spaced wide enough to straddle the windrow.

If you are going to transport the tractor on a trailer, the wheels should be narrow enough to go on the trailer.

Hope this helps.
