I agree with OLD. Is both tractors running on 12volts???? I have had an 850 that I change over from 6 to 12volts. It keep dying after running for while. Found out that the ign...switch would not carry the amps of the 12 volts. Had to change it over to an automotive switch, ended my problem.
Good Luck.....

Marvel-Schebler carburetor? When it is at idle or stalled, take a draw bolt and tap the carburetor just above where the two halves join. If the rev's immediately pick up it's because the float valve was hung up and now it's free.

My MH 30 did that all of the time last year but since I found a carb kit and float it seems to have cured itself of the habit. It's just as well; I'm not sure I could get the carb back together again.

Do as Bob suggests.
If it is fuel related you may keep it running a few extra seconds by pulling the choke when it is stopping, or you may keep it running with a spray of starter fluid into the intake. They each indicate a fuel flow problem. The fuel flow from the carb drain needs to be a continuous full flow for at least a minute. I mean a full flow. Alternatively, check how much drains from the carb after turning off the flow after leaving it on long enough to fill completely (engine off) and compare it with how much drains when the fault occurs (turn fuel tap off as the engine stops). I think you will find a very noticeable difference.

Aloha, Assuming that both tractors was running ok and all of a sudden it doesn't, it may be fuel related. Do as the others suggested but, also check your stored fuel supply. It may be contaminated.

Either you have a restriction to the free flow of gasoline somewhere between the fuel tank and the carburetor's float bowl, or you are losing spark.

Before draining gas from the carb, and other hazardous procedures, check for spark at the spark plugs as soon as it dies.

Either use a spark tester, or take a spare spark plug, open the gap to about 3/16", and ViseGrip it to a good ground, and connect one of the spark plug wires to it.

If it still has a good HOT spark after it has died, and won't start, you can rule out the ignition system, and move on to the fuel system.

I would first pull the drain plug from the bottom of the carb and make sure you have a good gas flow, catch the gas of course. It should flow for at least 5 minutes. If you have a good flow then jumper across the ignition switch and see if that helps. The ignition switches are known to go bad and will work for a few minutes and then they get hot and the engine will die

Check your fuel supply - system might be blocked. It may be dripping enough fuel into the fuel line and carb to let it run for a minute or two, but when that runs out, the engine quits. Likely obstruction is in the screen between the tank and the fuel on/off/
reserve switch. Just a thought. Best of luck.
