Carburetor needle leakage

I have continually had trouble with typically Marvel-Schebler carburetors leaking past a new needle and seat. They will flood the carburetor after sitting for a day or two. Over time the problem seems to correct itself. Most of the carb kits I have used are Tisco and I believe most have the neoprene tips on the needle. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

I had that problem on one of my tractors too. Got sick of messing around with the carb and I bought and inline electric shut off valve. Just install it in the line going to the carb, hook the wire to the power in side of the coil and no more leak. It will work on pos. and neg. ground systems. Cost, $27.00 well worth it.

Thats an easy one. The rubber tip needles need to get a set in them to work as they should and over time they do get the set they need. But you can make them set before you put the carb back togeather. What you do is put in the seat and then put the needle in, then with something small like a flat punch etc just tap the need a couple times. That will put a set on the rubber end and should stop you problom with the leaking. Its still a good idea to turn off the gas when you shut the tractor down for the day/night. I got that from an old carb guy years ago, to bad hes long since gone
