Just went through what you are going through. We spend a lot of time in our RV.

Long story short, GMAC not only gave us the best rates but also cover the RV much better than do others.

I'm with State Auto of Ohio, switched to them from Farm Bureau about 12 years ago. Cost was the same but it included way better coverage.

Just under a thousand a year for full coverage on an 02 Buick and 01 Dodge 2500 pickup, and liability on my commuter car 05 Dodge Intrepid.

We're with Aviva, and have been now for several years. Rates aren't bad relative to the others around here. We're paying something like 1800 a year for 1 mil liability coverage on 3 vehicles, and collision on 1. You may not feel you need that much coverage, but if somebody gets hurt bad, and they sue, you'll wish you had it. Once the lawyers get involved, the dollars go up quick. Medical bills, loss of income, loss of potential income, and so on..... Even a mil is nothing today.

I've been useing A.I.G. and haven't had any problems with them. I've had them for years and the reason I switch to them was they save me more the $300 per year

American Family here. About $100 per month for three cars, two on liability and one with full coverage. Also have renter's insurance and life insurance through them. I'm happy with the premiums - lucky enough so far that I haven't had to find out how well they pay out.

I've always been happy with Allied Insurance, they picked me up after Farm Bureau decided to drop me to minimum liability (25,000/50,000) with no comp or collision coverage after I had a few tickets and turned in some hail damage. Allied was cheaper and offered much better service.

I've shopped around a few times since then and now that my record (and my wife's) is clean the closest anyone came was State Farm and they were 40% higher. Some of the others were over 100% higher.

I use Esurance.com

Good rates, and good service, although you should have computer access for best results.

Neither age nor driving record are a problme for me, and the best rate I have found ofr the coverage is AAA. My son recently got his first car, and after doing some research, also went with AAA.

You'll get more useful information if you say what state you're in. Insuarance is regulated by the states. (It is the only industry that has no federal regulation.) The same company that is cheap in one state is going to be high in another.

Here's my suggestion: Start by going to progressive.com and get a quote. They will also provide quotes from their own competitors, so you'll have about three quotes to start with. Then call a couple of the big outfits, such as Allstate and State Farm. Then call a couple of independent agents and get quotes from them. Chances are the independent can get you a little better deal, because they will know which companies will penalize you because of your age, driving record or credit history. It has been my experience that most reputable agents will direct you to a competitor if they know that you will get a much better deal from the competitor. Each company has its own policies for setting its rates; for example some companies run credit checks while others do not.

Be careful about cheap quotes. Some companies
are still quoting 100/300 on liability.
Guess what? If you have an accident and you are at fault, 100 thousand is all you
have per person injured. After that, they will sue for whatever else they can get.
This could force you to sell your assets to
settle the whole thing. So, look for coverage
behond what is mentioned above. It will only be about 10.00 more per half. I know this
from some experience in my family where my
aunt was hit. She was not at fault so the
person who hit her was covering. Even though
she had uninsured coverage to 100 thousand of her own insurance that did not kick in.
The person at fault was insured and that is
where the claim was made on that limit. So,
the lawyer representing my aunt was going to sue for whatever could be obtained behond
the coverage to make up for the difference.
They began by counting the assets of the person
at fault. And, by the way, it does not take
much of an accident to meet the limit just in
medical bills. My aunts mouth was so messed up
they had to do reconstructive surgery and basically give her a new set of teeth. The
dental work alone was around 35,000.
Add in the life flight, the emergency room work and a stayover in the hospital plus all
of the follow-ups. It adds up fast, especially
with the rising costs of medical care.

Similar situation happened to my mom and brother. Guy ran a stop sign at 60 mph... with a suicide wish... no insurance... We had to sue our own insurance company to get them to pay up... medical bills topped $200k.... the 100/300k limits are a joke...

So now we carry 250/500k limits and drive fullsize cars...

I am in Ohio and have Indiana Insurance. They used to be Midwestern out of Milford/Cincinnati. I from time to time get competing quotes and have never had them beat yet. Also, very reasonable on a boat adder. Wish I could say the same about motorhomes.
