My neighbor's JD 5525 w/all of 67 hrs. has started to intermitantly blow white smoke and at the same time loose power. There are also signs of soot and perhaps some oil migrating down the side of the exhaust pipe. Fuel filter has been changed to rule out the simple stuff. The tractor is turbocharged and I think the seal on the inlet side may be leaking oil. Any thought on this? The dealer thinks it may be a leaking head gasget but I see no obvious signs of this. (antifreeze in oil, bubbles in radiator) Neighbor is loosing confidence in JD... They replaced his first 5525 @ less than 100 hrs. because they could not find out why the transmission (shuttle shift...electronic)kept going into neutral. Tractor was in the shop over 4 weeks without a lonar right in the middle of 1st cutting! Now this is happening and he is not a happy camper!
Anyone have an Idea what the problem might be here. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Andy

Purchase a JD 6000 twenty or a 5105/5205.

Some engineers and department heads at JD should be demoted to toilet cleaning duty for the rest of their careers for the 5000 series fiasco. History repeats it's self. With all the old engineers and department heads retired who were around for the 2010 diesel dud in the early/mid 1960's. This next generation of Deere decided to build another "2010" apparently unaware it didn't work the 1st time. To the 1960's Deere's credit they canned the 2010 mess promptly as they realized you can't polish a turd. On the other hand Deere has been trying to polish the 5000 for the past 16 years. Time to realize the stink is just getting spread around.

My Mamma's teat? What has that got to do with anything? You are definitely in need of professional help B&D, unfortunately I am not trained to provide it but I could recommend a good therapist. You must be from Eastern Canada I would guess, probably Ontario, I'll check and see who might be available.

My sense of humour? You keep jumping all over the place from my momma's teat to my sense of humor. You're losing me here B&D. Go Maple Leafs (coming on 40 years without the cup)!!! You are from Ontario aren't you? I knew it, I knew it, I knew it !!!!
