I have a 1951 MH 44 Std.Any one know what the three small holes in the left side of the hood were used for. I have seen these holes on other models of MH's also. Thanks, Jack

Just a guess: maybe brackets for headlights?

If you want to weld them shut, just hold a penny behind the hole and use a wire feed welder to fill the holes. The weld will not stick to the copper (coated) penny.

Are they close to the generator or something else requiring manual oiling?

No. They are on the side of the hood, above the starter. I looked at a 44 Special the other day and it had three flat bars about a foot long bolted the these holes. The came out at about a 45 degree angle and they were connected on the ends with flat bar forming a triangle. I ask the owner what this was for and he didn't know. I have a 33 and a 30 and they have these holes also.

There are no holes in a Masey hood other than Rad.EX.Air Cleaner and the Holes for the Hood Mounting on the Rad.Suport and THE Rear mounting (Tie Down Brackets)at rear of hood.Do You have the Flat straps with a Bolt Welded to them on Each Side of the rear of the Hood?????They are held on with THREE Rivets each.
