NH salesmen dropped off this rig for me to try. It wants to creep ever so slightly when there is no pressure on the handles. More on the right side. Is this a sign of impending doom, or a simple adjustment? Lift and dump action is very sensitive (snappy-almost too much) The salesman said he had it at his place for a couple of weeks and no problems, runs great! I used one like this for some years when I was working for someone else, so I have a good idea of what to expect from it. 1994 model year, asking $8500.00 CDN. Came from a potatoe farm. Any advice is appreciated. Kent in NB.

Hi Kent,

Yes, that should be a simple fix to stop the creep. That's just an adjustment on the sticks to make them neutralise properly. Make sure the parking brake works too.
Far as price goes, I think he's smoking crack. I was looking at one 5 years ago that they wanted 9500 for. The boom had cracks and the thing looked well licked. At the time I saw the thing it had been painted, a new seat installed, and new tires installed. After having driven 5 hours to look at it, thinking it was 9500 in that condition, he turns around and says it's now 11000.... What a negociator. I bought a new LS170 at that time for 29500, financed for 3 years for nothing. That was a no brainer to me.
You've also got to look and see if that machine has boom hydraulics. If it doesn't then that certainly limits the machine's usefulness.

Personally I think you could look around and find a newer machine like an Lx565 or Lx665 probably around the 10 range, and a better machine... or even an LS160 or LS170 for around 15000 right now. It seems to me that there's a lot of gear around right now and none of it's worth anything. Everything seems depressed. I think I'd look around a bit more. Good luck.

Rod

The slight creep is a simple adjustment. The dealer should make it good before you sign the check. If the hydraulics are in good shape the lift and curl are very quick on those machines.
