There is an auction coming up soon here where I live. There is a JD 2840 there and I was wondering if any of you had any opinions about them. I have heard good and bad. Thanks for your help in advanced. Tim

We had a 2940 on the farm for about 8 years. I really enjoyed this little tractor, one of my favorites to operate. The only problem we had was with the power steering. Once that was fixed we had no other problems. We ended up selling it and getting a CaseIH 4WD to better suite our needs. It is a great tractor and I would not hesitate about getting another.

I have one, I really like the tractor, when its actually running. The engine will respond well to a little extra fuel. However this model is prone to hydraulic problems, especially the steering and the low pressure system. The low pressure system operates the HiLo and PTO and also supplies the main pump. It requires splitting the tractor to repair (often more than once to get it right) I bought mine cheap knowing it had problems. Couple of thousand later in parts and its good. I did the work myself or the labor cost would have killed me. Invest in a tech manual if you get it. So theres the good and bad, the choice is yours.
