Had a GMC truck with a 6.2 did that to me. Would idle forever, but try driving it down the road and you wouldn't get far. Crazy thing was, the LESS fuel in the tank, the FARTHER you could go. Turned out the fuel cap vents were plugged. It would suck to a vacuum, then couldn't draw any more fuel.

Check the fuel RETURN lines from the injection pump and injectors back to the fuel tank. If they are not clear, and free flowing, will cause that kind of problem. It"s like a blocked exhaust, will start OK, then slowly die.

Our 4440 did that the other year pulling wagons. We had to throw the strainer in the bowl on the injection pump away and get a new one. Also does your fuel cap vent O> K.?

when you are working it, does it smoke any? if so, what color? have you changed the air filters recently? if not replace both the primary and secondary air filters. DO NOT blow them out. if you still have no change in performance, the next things to look at would be the turbo, and a compression check on each cylinder. When the tractor was overhualed, was the head reconditioned and checked for cracks? and was the turbo checked out? was the injector pump and injectors reconditioned?
