I've tried to keep up with the allis G electric conversions and a yanmar utility on the net and they seem to work out,in their applications. For a winter project,I've thought of doing a ford 600 that is used as a chore tractor 2-3 hours per day. Has anyone given something like this any thought? 36v and 48v golf cart components are everywere for a pittance and machine work should be minimal.

Do it. The electric motor on a golf cart might make 12HP. I would use two of them and allow for the use of one or both to save battery, and allow longer run time. I would gear the motor/s to the same output RPM as the tractor motor at High Idle. I wold use solid state controllers, not resistance type. The savings in power is substantial. Motor brakes might be a good idea so shifting can happen without waiting for the motor/s to slow down from speed. (no clutch. Good luck, JimN
